I am a fourth year International Business major, Ethnic Studies minor. I was born in Bien Hoa, Vietnam and came to America with my family when I was 1. I was raised in Southeast San Diego all my life where there is a very diverse community. I love food and I love expressing my love through food, so I think it's really essential for our health + community building.
Growing up in a pretty traditional Vietnamese household, I was able to experience the vast spices and flavors through the amazing dishes my mom would make. I never really appreciated Vietnamese food until I moved out for college and was unable to eat her delicious food everyday. My favorite Vietnamese dishes are Bun Bo Hue and Banh Xeo!
I haven't had many experiences with South Asian cuisine just yet, but it is my goal this year to find the best places for that in San Diego! I've had Indian food before, which is super rich in spices and flavors so I would definitely consider that a delicacy. I'm excited to learn more about the cuisines and the relationship between food and the communities!
