Brief Bio
Hello, welcome to my page. My name is Hosana and I'm currently a fourth year International Business major. I transferred last year from the Bay Area. I grew up eating a variety of different foods but mainly Japanese cuisines. It's always interesting to see how differently people prepare the same dish and it can turn uniquely personalized.
One of the dishes I grew up eating often was Japanese curry rice. Japanese curry, known as "kare" in Japan, is a popular and beloved dish that has its roots in Indian curry but has evolved into a unique culinary creation in Japan. Japanese curry typically features a rich and flavorful sauce made from a curry roux, which includes ingredients like onions, carrots, potatoes, and various spices. The sauce is simmered to achieve a thick and hearty consistency.
While the base ingredients may vary, common protein additions to Japanese curry include beef, chicken, pork, or even seafood. The dish is often served over a bed of steamed rice, making it a comforting and satisfying meal. Japanese curry has a mild and slightly sweet flavor profile compared to some spicier varieties of curry found in other parts of the world. It has become a staple in Japanese households, and its popularity extends to various convenient forms, such as pre-packaged curry roux blocks that make it easy for people to prepare at home. Additionally, curry is a common menu item in Japanese restaurants, school cafeterias, and curry specialty shops throughout the country.
