Introduction
Hello, everyone! It is very nice to take this course with you all "virtually"! My name is Mingye Kang (he/him/his), and I come from China. I hope I could learn more about food and culture in South Asia in this course.
Because of the geographical distance and frequent communication between China and South Asia, there are a great number of restaurants that provide food from South Asia. Therefore, I have the opportunity to have a taste of dishes from South Asia. My parents often take me to restaurants with dishes from South Asia. As I try more, I grow more attracted by these dishes, especially those from Thailand.
The flavor of Thai food is similar to that of Chinese food, which is one of the reasons I am deeply attracted to it. Cooking methods of Thai food mainly include frying, boiling, stirring and so on. These methods are also frequently adopted in Chinese cuisine. One of the representatives of Thai food is curry beef brisket, and it is one of my favorites as well.
Recipe of Curry beef brisket
Prepare a pot of water, and boil it.
Cut the beef brisket into pieces, and put them in the boiling water.
Remove the scum when the water is boiling again, and take out the brisket pieces.
Boil one more pot of water for preparation.
Add several drops of cooking oils to a new pot, and put the brisket pieces into it.
Put garlic, chili, onions, and curry, and add some salt.
When they get soft, add boiling water, and wait about one hour.
Put potato pieces, and add pepper pieces after ten minutes or so.
When it boils again, the beef brisket is ready!
