Course Description: This course provides an in-depth exploration of the fundamental principles of heat and mass transfer, essential for solving real-world engineering problems. Topics include conduction, convection, and radiation heat transfer mechanisms, as well as diffusion and convective mass transfer processes. Students will learn to analyze steady and transient thermal systems and apply concepts such as boundary layers, heat exchangers, and phase change phenomena. The course emphasizes problem-solving through analytical methods and introduces numerical techniques for complex scenarios.
Key learning outcomes include:
Understanding the physical principles governing heat and mass transfer.
Developing models for heat conduction in various geometries.
Applying convective heat transfer correlations to practical systems.
Analyzing radiative heat transfer and its interactions with matter.
Solving mass transfer problems involving diffusion and convection.
The course is designed for undergraduate students in mechanical, chemical, and civil engineering, preparing them for practical applications in industry and advanced academic study.
