Professors for the Future (PFTF) is a competitive, leadership-development program that on the UC Davis that aims to shape PhD students into well-rounded leaders through problem solving. My project for PFTF was focused around providing resources for student parents. My co-fellow, Zarah, and I organized a series of seminars (5 total) focused around parents in academia.

Over the last four years, I was happy to hold the position of Communications Officer for the Dental Anthropology Association. This position allowed me to serve my discipline while also getting a chance to learn and grow with my fellow tooth nerds!

For the last year I served as the Director of the graduate student run Anthropology Outreach Program. This is a free education program available to school groups in our local Northern California area that provides workshops on evolution, archaeology, and paleoanthropology.
Throughout the entire year we hosted a total of 10 school groups! This meant we were able to reach nearly 450 students and 70 chaperones/teachers ranging from Kindergarten to Seniors, with the majority of our groups ranging between 5th and 7th grade!

Over this past summer I was lucky enough to volunteer with a local archaeological firm, Alta Archaeological Consulting, to work in Germany this summer on a World War Two site to try and find and recover a fallen soldier.

Traditionally UC Davis Biodiversity Museum Day is a free, educational event for the community where visitors get to connect with UC Davis scientists from undergraduate students to staff to emeritus professors.
It was a great day volunteering with our Anthropology Department and teaching our community about the wonders of human evolution!
