Graduate students who meet eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply for the SPS Global Diversity Scholarship. Please note and be mindful of application deadlines.
Undergraduate students who meet eligibility requirements are encouraged to apply to the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship. Please note and be mindful of application deadlines.

Can I get a refund if I drop a GFI course?
Tuition Refund: The bursar will issue a tuition only refund according to the University outlined refund schedule here. However, students who drop the course will be responsible for the cancellation fee outlined on the 'Program Cost' page for the GFI they are enrolled for.
Do I need a visa to attend or participate in a GFI course?
Students who apply for a GFI course are required to contact OGS Outbound Services in advance (at least two months prior to departure date) to discuss the visa requirements of a GFI location based on the student’s citizenship and travel itinerary. Do I need a vaccine to attend or participate in a GFI course?
All students participating in a GFI must speak with NYU's Travel Medicine office at least 4-6 weeks in advance of the trip to discuss any necessary medical considerations, including vaccinations.
It is the student's responsibility to review the information on this page and seek further guidance with their primary care physician and/or the the NYU Travel Medicine, if needed.
I want to take a Summer GFI course, but taking one will result in me missing part of a class in New York. What should I do?
Students cannot take multiple courses that have time conflicts. Please speak with your advisor if you have any questions.
Can I stay in my own hotel or with family in the area?
All students enrolled in a GFI program must stay in the designated NYU sponsored housing. There are no exceptions.
Can I request a roommate?
You may be able to choose a roommate/roommates if the location honors a selection process. We cannot guarantee all requests can be accommodated. Most accommodations are single gender.
Can I share my room with family, friends, partners?
Individuals not enrolled or listed on the official class roster may not stay in your assigned room or participate in official program activities.
