I did my PhD in philosophy at the University of Helsinki from 2020 to 2024. My dissertation on moral responsibility was supervised by Lilian O'Brien and Antti Kauppinen. My thesis committee was composed of Gunnar Björnsson, Hille Paakkunainen, and Per-Erik MIlam. I defended it publicly in April of 2025, with Michael McKenna serving as my opponent. In the fall of 2022, I visited the Lund-Gothenburg Responsibility Project at Lund University. While at Helsinki, I worked as a researcher on the ethics of technology (especially AI & social robotics) with the RADAR Group.
I have master's degrees in philosophy (ethics & cognitive science) and music from, respectively, the University of Houston and the University of Paris VIII. I have an undergraduate degree in music (piano performance & music theory) from Southwestern University. I have additionally studied music composition and digital music production under some wonderful teachers in the US and abroad.
I have worked extensively in education - as a philosophy instructor, English teacher (in France), and piano teacher. I have also worked as a composer (with my own online business) and had a brief (4 1/2 yr.) corporate career in the energy sector (in contracts and marketing administration). I am currently enjoying the challenge of teaching data ethics to upper-level undergrad and grad non-philosophy students at UW-Madison!
