2022 Summer Research Academy

BUILD EXITO and the Office of Undergraduate Research had a wonderful time hosting the 2022 Summer Research Academy (SRA). We partnered with PSU programs LSAMP, McNair, Eagles, the School of Public Health, and the Honors College to provide more students with an opportunity to learn more about how they can get involved with research at the undergraduate level at PSU and other universities! SRA 2022 was a 3-day event taking place from Monday, June 20 - Wednesday, June 22, 2022 at Portland State University. The event was designed to engage undergraduate students interested in making a difference in their communities by pursuing research opportunities in STEM, biomedical, behavioral, clinical, health, the arts and social sciences. Students do not have to have prior research experience to participate!

The goal of SRA is to provide undergraduate students an introduction to what research is, how it’s developed and conducted, and where to find relevant research opportunities! Participants will hear from a range of professional researchers in their respective fields, panel discussions by undergraduate and graduate students involved in research, and get to know the different undergraduate research opportunities available at PSU and other universities.

At the end of event, participants will:

Improve their understanding of research;
Increase awareness of research opportunities;
Be introduced to research career paths and meet professionals
Get connected to professional development opportunities and events related to research
