Career Services is a proud partner with the HANDSHAKE online career platform. ESU Faculty and Staff can utilize Handshake by requesting a student Handshake account. By creating a student account, faculty and staff can utilize Handshake just like our students, allowing them to view career events, search jobs/internships, review employers, and assist students with any questions they have about Handshake. Faculty and staff who wish to request a Student Account in Handshake may do so by clicking the button below and completing the request form.
We encourage faculty to partner with Career Services by embedding career planning and professional development into your courses. Two common ways that faculty partner with us are:
Course Presentations
Course Assignments
Our staff manages requests for course presentations and assignments and can work with faculty to customize a plan that aligns with course objectives and student learning. As you plan your syllabi for the coming semester, consider how you might want to incorporate career planning and professional development into your courses.
PRESENTATIONS

COURSE ASSIGNMENTS
Embedding career and professional development assignments into your courses is a great way to prepare your students for career success. Common course assignments include resume reviews, mock interviews, personality assessments and creating a Handshake profile. Career Services is ready to partner with you on embedding career assignments into your courses. At the completion of the assignments, students can simply verify they completed the assignment by taking a screen shot of their appointment(s) in Handshake.

Faculty Guidance for Career Development with Students
As a faculty member, you can support the career aspirations of your students and graduates and complement the work of Career Services. In this role, there are important guidelines to follow as they relate to student employment, career pursuits and candidate referrals. The National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), or which Emporia State Career Services is a member, has written a great resource for faculty with important guidance. Click HERE and review the NACE "Faculty Guide to Ethical and Legal Standards in Student Employment."
We look forward to working with you! Questions? Contact Career Services at 620-341-5407 or [email protected]
