Trevor E. Brown
I am a PhD Candidate in the Department of Government at Cornell University. I study American politics, with focuses on political economy, American political development (APD), labor politics, class formation, and racial and economic inequality.
Among other projects, I am currently working on a book-length dissertation that examines the class formation of the American health care work force in the post-industrial United States.
With Suzanne Mettler, I am also writing a book on the causes and consequences of the rural-urban divide in American politics. It is under contract with Princeton University Press.
Before coming to Cornell, I earned a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science (Distinction and Honors) and English Literature from Wittenberg University in Springfield, OH, my hometown. I then spent 3 years working in policy advocacy at the Shriver Center on Poverty Law in Chicago, IL. I am proudly a first generation, low-income (FGLI) student.
In my free time, I like to read, watch baseball, and run.
Pronouns: He/Him/His
"I'd love to wear a rainbow every day
And tell the world that everything's okay
But maybe I can carry off a little darkness on my back
'Til things are brighter"
