Hello! My name is Nick and I'm a social epistemologist and ethicist by training. I recently obtained my PhD in philosophy from the University of Miami. Before that, I received my MA in philosophy from Queen's University, and an HBA in philosophy and political science from the University of Toronto.
A central theme of my research is the exploration of epistemic and moral wrongs, especially with respect to our social and political identities. I am currently working at the intersection of ethics, epistemology, and social and political philosophy to examine blame avoidance mechanisms, cancel culture accusations of censorship, epistemic decolonization, the politics of recognition, the ethics of epistemic reparations, and oppression and epistemic advantage.
Beginning in Fall 2024, I will be a SSHRC Postdoctoral Fellow at Brandon University under the supervision of Dr. Cameron Boult working on a project titled 'Epistemic Blame and the Practice of Blame Avoidance.' Recently, I worked as a Sessional Lecturer in Philosophy and a Learning Strategist at the University of Toronto doing fantastic work in pedagogy and curricular innovation. Outside of academia, I enjoy spending time with my wife and kids, playing soccer, and making a good cup of coffee.Â
