I am an Assistant Professor (RTdB) at the Scuola Normale Superiore in Pisa, Italy. Previously, I was an Assistant Professor at the University of Amsterdam and QuSoft (2022-2024).
My interests lie in quantum information science and mathematical physics. I have worked on quantum Shannon theory and quantum resource theories, especially entanglement but also coherence and magic. I am also interested in quantum communication, especially with continuous variable systems, and in foundational aspects of quantum physics, particularly in connection with general probabilistic theories.
Recently I talked about irreversibility of entanglement theory at QIP 2022. You can watch the plenary talk I gave here.
I was born in the beautiful city of Pisa, Italy, in 1990. In 2009 I won a Gold Medal at the Italian Physics Olympiad, as well as the 1st prize (nation-wide) for the best experimental examination. In 2015 I graduated in Physics with maximum grades from the Scuola Normale Superiore, possibly the top elite university in Italy for physical sciences. In 2017 I obtained my Ph.D., and later the Special Award for Doctoral Studies, at the Autonomous University of Barcelona under the supervision of Andreas Winter.
I have since worked as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Nottingham with Gerardo Adesso (2017-2019), and at the University of Ulm (2019-2022). From 2022 to the end of 2024 I was an Assistant Professor at the University of Amsterdam and QuSoft. In 2024, I was awarded a € 1.5M-ERC Starting Grant on entanglement theory and quantum Shannon theory.
