Abu Siddique

I am a Senior Lecturer (Associate Professor) in Economics at the Department of Economics, Royal Holloway University of London (UK). Previously, I was an Assistant Professor of Economics and Policy at the Department of Political Economy, King's College London (UK), and a Postdoc at the Professorship of Economics, Technical University of Munich (Germany). I am also a:

• Research associate at the Institute for Fiscal Studies.

• Non-resident fellow at the Centre for Development Economics and Sustainability, Monash University.

• External research fellow at the Professorship of Economics, Technical University of Munich.

• Invited researcher at the Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL).

• Research affiliate at the IZA. 

• Associate Editor at the Frontiers in Behavioral Economics (Health Behaviors)

My main research interests lie in the field of development economics. Much of my work is on discrimination and human capital investments in low-income countries. I have published my papers in the American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, Review of Economics and Statistics, Economic Journal, and other peer-reviewed journals. Currently, I am working on development issues in Bangladesh, Ghana, India, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, and Uganda.

Research Fields: Development, applied microeconomics.

From February 9 to March 8, 2025, I will be visiting the Department of Economics at Monash University (my host is Yves Zenou).
