I am a Principal Economist and the Director of the Enhancing Health Data (EHealth) Program at the U.S. Census Bureau. I have over 15 years of experience working with survey and large-scale administrative records, conducting health and economic research, and designing new data systems by linking multiple data sources. My research focuses on improving measurement of factors affecting health outcomes and quantifying health care provider characteristics and availability.
I currently lead a research team that partners with health data providers and researchers to combine health records with Census data to create new statistics and conduct research. I am passionate about leveraging the Census Bureau's unique data assets, record linkage capabilities, and modern data science tools to efficiently improve healthcare statistics, research, and policymaking. The Census Bureau is uniquely positioned to integrate health records, such as electronic health records (EHRs), with its extensive demographic and economic datasets. By repurposing existing datasets and linking health records, EHealth team works alongside health statistics agencies to fill critical gaps in health data by providing insights into how social, economic, and community factors influence health outcomes. Complementing traditional surveys, EHealth adds detail, timeliness, and granularity to the healthcare landscape, enabling policymakers to craft more effective policies. Through innovation and partnerships with health organizations, researchers, and government entities, EHealth program strengthens decision-making and supports better health outcomes for American communities.
