Hokkaido University-Hitachi Joint Cooperative Support Program for Education and Research

社会課題解決に貢献できる高度な技術の研究開発に取り組む人財を育成するために、優秀な学生の博士課程進学を促し、研究に専念できる環境を整える給付型奨学金のプログラムです。
This is a scholarship programme designed to encourage outstanding students to pursue doctoral studies and to provide an environment where they can focus entirely on their research. It aims to foster talent engaged in the research and development of advanced technologies that contribute to solving societal challenges.

本プログラムについて / Overview of This Programme

株式会社日立製作所と北海道大学が協力して実施する博士課程の学生を対象とした研究支援プログラムです。研究に専念できる環境を整える給付型奨学金を支給し、学生の博士課程進学を促すことで、人財の育成と研究の質向上をめざすとともに、日本と世界の学術界、産業界の発展に資することを目的とします。本プログラムの公募は、例年10月下旬から11月下旬（予定）に実施され、応募対象は修士課程1年の学生です。

※本プログラムは、日本学術振興会の「特別研究員制度」と併給も可能です。

This is a research support programme for doctoral students, jointly implemented by Hitachi, Ltd. and Hokkaido University. The programme provides a grant-type scholarship, creating an environment where students can fully dedicate themselves to their research. By encouraging students to pursue doctoral studies, it aims to nurture talent, enhance research quality, and contribute to the advancement of academia and industry in Japan and worldwide. Applications are open annually from late October to late November (tentative), targeting first-year master’s students.

*This programme can be received concurrently with the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Research Fellowships for Young Scientists.

支援内容 / Support Contents

対　　象：博士後期課程　※応募は修士課程1年次支援内容：奨学金月額200,000円　研究費年額1,000,000円　海外渡航費年額600,000円　　　　　※その他、所属研究室への研究費年額1,200,000円支給あり。支援期間：3年間（博士課程在学期間中）

Eligibility: PhD programme students (Applications are submitted during the first year of the master’s programme)

Support Provided:
- Scholarship: ¥200,000 per month
- Research Grant: ¥1,000,000 per year
- Overseas Travel Grant: ¥600,000 per year
- Additionally, an annual research grant of ¥1,200,000 is provided to the student’s affiliated laboratory.

Funding Period: 3 years (while enrolled in the PhD programme)
